Apple Notebook - The Powerbook G4
Apple is one of the established players in the notebook market. Although the apple notebook is by no means a leader in the notebook market, yet in recent times Apple has been coming up with innovative strategies to regain the market share that it had lost in the past through its relatively narrow market focus.
The Titanium PowerBook G4 notebook is a noteworthy apple notebook model. This is definitely going to be a step towards regaining lost market. While much of Apple's new apple notebook products are focused on consumer styling and features, Titanium is clearly geared for the professional market. The latest apple notebook PowerBook G4 has a fast 1.67GHz PowerPC G4 processor, a slot-loading DVD SuperDrive supporting double-layer burning (DVD+R DL/DVDRW/CD-RW), an integrated modem and networking, USB and FireWire ports (both 400 and 800), and 802.11 wireless-networking capabilities. And this apple notebook weighs only 5.6 pounds. Reflecting Apple's typical engineering innovation, this apple notebook has an illuminated fiber-optic, backlit keyboard with an ambient light sensor. The basic configuration comes with 512MB ( a single SO-DIMM) of PC2-4200 DDR2 SDRAM running at 333MHz. It's two memory slots allow up to 2GB to be installed.
Apple has also come up with innovative styles in designing the apple notebook models. Besides packing powerful features, this apple notebook - the PowerBook G4 - is also really cool in appearance and slick in style. At only 1.1 inches thick, it's aluminum construction makes for a stunning notebook.
For audiophiles and for essential presentations requiring high quality audio, the notebook has built-in optical audio input and output. And the graphics are done by an ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 with 128MB of DDR SDRAM.
Analysts have long criticized Apple for not taking the business market seriously enough - not even with its apple notebook models. The company has instead always focused on established segments, such as education and graphics, and on rekindling consumer interest.
But for Apple to expand or even just survive, the company needs to attract a wide spectrum of consumers. Its plan now - especially with regard to its apple notebook product line - is to attract the corporate sector instead of the usual consumer segments. Its aim is to provide value for money to its clients, something that it is likely to do with Powerbook G4. One of the biggest things going for the 15.2 inch apple notebook is its value. This entry-level G4 model currently sells for around $2,000, not at all a bad price for an apple notebook with this kind of quality.
Apple's new strategy of targeting the corporate segment - with the Apple notebook models - coincides with employers decisions worldwide to provide more and more notebooks to employees. This has come as a boon to Apple.
