Panasonic Rugged Notebooks

Panasonic is one of the most established players in the notebook market and is a leading supplier of rugged notebooks. In addition, the panasonic notebook is also known for offering standard features such as magnesium alloy cases, shock-mounted hard disk drives and spill-resistant keyboards and LCDs.

In fact Panasonic is one of the few manufacturers that directly control the process of design, manufacture and quality assurance of its panasonic notebook computers. Many key components of the panasonic notebook - including LCD panels, Lithium Ion batteries, DVD and CD-ROM drives and board-level electronics - are manufactured in Panasonic's own manufacturing divisions.

One of the most avowed goals of Panasonic is to provide the best integrated wireless technology with their panasonic notebook computers - or Toughbooks as they are otherwise called - to support mobile professionals across a wide range of industries.

The RIM modems - in terms of their size, RF performance, advanced power management and reliability - provide the perfect foil for the integrated wireless computing solutions. The new 902M and 802D modems in the panasonic notebook have the potential to access nationwide wireless data networks operated by American Mobile and BellSouth Wireless Data.

The panasonic notebook is widely recognized as an industry leader for rugged field applications such as field service and sales, telecommunications, law enforcement, utilities, manufacturing and transportation. The rugged design of the panasonic notebook - along with the advanced wireless capabilities of RIM's radio modems - offers a powerful combination for a mobile workforce that needs to stay connected in the field.

The panasonic notebook weighs a mere 3.7 pounds. However the absence of weight does not affect the speed or power. The panasonic notebook is extremely well designed with a sleek, durable exterior and a powerful interior. There is an advanced shock-mounted casing to protect the fragile interior. The screen - XGA TFT type - is 13.3 inches in size.

The panasonic notebook comes with an Intel PIII-700SS processor, 20 GB hard drive which can be increased to 30GB, a 64mb RAM and a Silicon Motion Lynx 3D graphics chip with 4mb on on-board VRAM. Besides, the panasonic notebook has a touch-pad, CD-ROM drive and an external floppy drive.

On the flip side, the panasonic notebook is somewhat expensive and consumers are sure to feel the pinch in their pockets. But at the end of the day it is worth the investment.
